The Project is a Christian church. We follow Jesus, teach from the bible, and understand God as the creator and sustainer of the universe. Through our relationship with Christ, we attempt to live out what we call the Jesus-based life. That is, a life that exemplifies Jesus’ life, the way He challenged people to live, and the things He said. This kind of life should be evident in someone who claims to follow Jesus.
We know there are a lot of opinions on who Jesus was. Was he a good man, a teacher, a self-deluded prophet, or someone who didn’t even exist? We believe Jesus is God. He lived a sinless human life and offered himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on a cross. He rose from the dead on the third day to demonstrate his power over sin and death, and He ascended to heaven and will return again someday to earth.
For us, everything hinges on what someone does with Jesus. Accepting, believing, and following the Jesus-based life has everything to do with a personal choice, commitment and faith.
We think this is the end goal for each person and believe the process and discovery is just as important. Hence our tagline: an experiment in barely organized religion. We understand every young adult approaches this quest differently and we’re excited to walk alongside them as it unfolds.
